Why Get BOTOX® From a Dentist?
With their extensive knowledge of the physiology of the face, including nerves, muscles, and skeletal structure, dentists are uniquely qualified to help patients safely acheive a natural, refreshed look using BOTOX®.
As a dentist, Dr. Polanco specializes in the oral and maxillofacial areas more than any other medical practitioner. He has decades of experience injecting cranial nerves in the sensitive areas of the head. With over 20 years in practice, Dr. Polanco is highly skilled in administering injections safely and comfortably. As part of his continuing education, Dr. Polanco completed a Board-approved training program in facial aesthetics and is certified to safely and effectively deliver BOTOX® injections. Supporting his facial aesthetics practice is, Dodie a liscened esthetician.
How Does BOTOX® Work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is delivered by injection into the muscles or deep into the skin. It works by partially blocking nerve impulses to muscles or areas that have been injected, reducing muscle contractions to address the specific problem being treated. BOTOX® is temporary, its effects wear off and muscles return to their normal function within three to six months depending on the procedure.
What Can I Expect From Treatment?
Minimal Injection Pain
In his dental practice, Dr. Polanco is known for having a gentle touch and minimizing patient discomfort. He brings that same approach to his Facial Aesthetics practice. To ensure minimal discomfort, Dr. Polanco uses a vibration tool while administering injections. Because your brain can only process one sensation at a time, the vibrations distract the brain so pain sensations are minimal.
If you are interested in BOTOX but are put off by the idea of the needle, we encourage you to consider visiting Community Dental Facial Aesthetics. Nobody understands fear of needles better than a dentist! Dr. Polanco has worked with many patients who have dental anxiety. He is skilled at making patients comfortable and working with them as they overcome their anxiety so they can get the treatments they want and the treatments they need.
Natural Looking Results - No Frozen "BOTOX® Face"
When doing mouth reconstructions, Dr. Polanco must ensure that the replacement teeth look natural and fit with the overall balance of the patient’s face. Similarly, one of the key elements of his Facial Aesthetics treatment plan is ensuring a natural looking result. Dr. Polanco’s expertise in the structure and tissues of the face leaves his BOTOX® patients looking like themselves, just refreshed and with fewer lines.
BOTOX® Cosmetic for Facial Lines and Wrinkles
BOTOX® Cosmetic addresses fine lines and wrinkles caused by repeated movement of the facial muscles by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. Patients who get BOTOX® treatments for facial lines and wrinkles include women and men in a range of age groups. Not only does BOTOX® improve the look of existing lines and wrinkles, but it can be used to prevent lines and wrinkles in younger patients.
You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours, with results lasting up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines. If you discontinue treatment the moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines will gradually return.
If you want to keep your skin healthy and slow down the aging process, a strategic skin care routine with high quality, effective products is essential. This is why we offer the award offer the award-winning skin care line Epionce® for sale in our office.
BOTOX® for Gummy Smile
Excessive gingival display, more commonly known as a "gummy smile" occurs when 3 mm or more of the upper gum is exposed when smiling. While this condition is not harmful, many people with a gummy smile feel it detracts from their appearance. Thanks to BOTOX® Cosmetic, there is a non-surgical approach to improving the appearance of the gummy smile.
For this problem, BOTOX® is injected above the smile to relax muscles that cause the upper lip to lift excessively. Treatment only requires a few injections and typically lasts about 12 weeks.
The BOTOX® Lip Flip
The BOTOX® Lip Flip is an alternative to dermal fillers for making the lip fuller. The Lip Flip involves using BOTOX® around the lip area to help the lip relax and roll slightly upward, revealing more of the upper lip. This results in an overall fuller look. The Lip Flip uses a small amount of BOTOX® to relax the muscle enough to flip the lip outward but not enough to effect mouth function.
The Lip Flip has several advantages over dermal fillers. Compared to dermal fillers, the Lip Flip is easier, faster, and produces a more subtle, natural looking result. A BOTOX® Lip Flip typically involves fewer than 10 injections and will last between two and four months. In contrast, fillers require more injections asnd last about six months to a year. The Lip Flip is a great alternative for someone who wants fuller lips but does not want to increase lip volume or commit to a procedure that lasts six to 12 months.
BOTOX® for Migraine
BOTOX® has been used as a preventive chronic migraine treatment since 2010. Chronic Migraine is 15 or more headache days each month, with migraine on at least 8 of those days, and each headache lasting 4 or more hours. Many chronic migraine sufferers have benefited from adding BOTOX® to their treatment regimen. If you suffer from chronic migraine and have tried two or three oral preventives with no success, you might want to ask your primary doctor if BOTOX® is appropriate for you.
For migraine, the BOTOX® procedure takes about 20 minutes and involves injections in the forehead, temples, back of the head and top of the neck. Treatment is typically given every 12 weeks or at intervals recommended by the primary doctor.
BOTOX® For TMJ-TMD
The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect the jaw to the skull to the skull. These joints get a lot of use – they work every time one speaks, chews, swallows, or yawns. People with TMJ disorders, also referred to as TMD, experience pain in the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement. If you suffer from chronic facial and neck pain as well as recurring headaches, you might have Temporomandibular Disorder, or TMD.
When used to relieve the symptoms of TMD, BOTOX® relieves jaw tension by relaxing the muscles around your TM joints so they are unable to engage in the movement of the jaw that causes headaches and pain. BOTOX® treatment for TMD generally takes 30 minutes or less. Most patients experience relief between two days and one week post-treatment.
